Code of Ethics

This code of ethics applies to all the work I do through Chenae Carey Coaching, as an Intuitive Business Mentor and Coach. I will, at all times, maintain ethical standards including, but not limited to, those detailed below.

Here’s why this page exists: coaching and intuitive work both operate inside of unregulated industries. Anyone can call themselves a coach tomorrow and there’s nobody checking for their licence, no governing body – there’s literally no one checking. That means the standard is whatever each of us decides it is. I’ve decided mine is high, and I want you to see exactly what it is before you ever hand over a dollar.

Then I want you to expect it from me.

COMMITMENT

I’m committed to contributing to excellence in the field of the intuitive sciences and online business. In an unregulated industry, my intention is to conduct myself in accordance with the standards outlined in this document in the delivery of every service, whether that’s a private mentoring session, a group call, a workshop, an event, a meditation on Insight Timer or something else.

VALUES

These are the values I make decisions from – the everyday, the strategic and even the uncomfortable decisions. The practical stuff, like being reliable, approachable and clear, is simply how my values show up in the work.

Congruence
What you see online is what you get with me. The woman in my content, on our calls and in the flesh is the same person, living by the same values. I don’t teach anything I’m not practising, and if my life and my message ever stop matching, I’ll fix my life before I keep preaching.

Freedom
I want your business to give you more freedom, not less (hence the book I wrote). Mine too. Freedom of time, of choice, and from the old subconscious programs that have been quietly running the show. Freedom to curate a life that is supported by the business, not one that fits in the nooks and crannies that peek through every 5-6mths.

Growth & Expansion
I’m interested in your evolution, your expansion, your vision. I invest in my own spiritual, personal and professional development, and I show up to it consistently.

Integrity
I hold myself to a high standard in an industry that doesn’t require one. I do what I say I’ll do, when I say I’ll do it. If on the odd occasion I don’t, I apologist and course correcy. Conscientiousness, reliability, trustworthiness and accountability aren’t extras, they’re the baseline around here.

Sovereignty & Boundaries
You’re the authority on your life and your business. Your intuition is the highest authority, and my job is to help you hear it, not override it. Respect for your choices, your pace and your boundaries is non-negotiable. Same for me when I’m a client, if I’m honest.

Truth & Honesty
I say what I see, even when it’s uncomfortable. Especially when it’s self-sabotage. Honesty and transparency run both ways: I’ll be clear and purposeful in how I communicate, and I’ll deliver the hard stuff with kindness and thoughtfulness. That means telling you when I’m not the right person for you, and owning it when I get something wrong. You’re encouraged to be honest with me. I conduct exit interviews with clients in my coaching packages, because I want to hear their honest opinions.

Courage
I’m bold and I live a non-traditional life that a lot of people wouldn’t dare to live because it’s quite unpredictable. Whilst I do not need anyone to approve of or follow my choices, I do expect courage from my clients because the kinds of bold leaps my clients take require a little courage.

Inclusion
I care about systemic change and I put effort and money behind it. Inclusion isn’t a checkbox for me. I actively work to make sure I don’t unintentionally exclude marginalised people.

Loyalty
I build relationships that last. I’m approachable, I stay in your corner, and some of my clients have been with me for 7+ years. When you’re in, I’ve got your back.

Aliveness
My community would describe me as FULL CAPS ALIVE, and I want that for you too. A business that drains the life out of you isn’t a success, no matter what the numbers say.

Inspiring Leadership
I’d rather lead by example than by pressure. You’ll never be sold to with fear or fake urgency. If you work with me, it’s because something genuinely lit you up. When we meet to discuss whether we’re a good fit, I invite you to sleep on it. There’s no forced decision-making here, not on my watch.

Fun
Deep work doesn’t have to be heavy work. There will be laughter in our sessions, and there will be dad jokes/puns. And I’m not sorry about it.

CONFIDENTIALITY

Confidentiality of client information will be observed at all times. What you share in our work stays in our container. I won’t share your story, your numbers, your wins or your wobbles in content, case studies, or conversations with other clients without your explicit written permission.

If I’d love to use your testimonial or share part of your story, I’ll ask first, and you can say no without it changing a single thing about how I work with you.

In group spaces like the Expansion Circle, I ask every member to hold what others share in confidence, and I’ll remind the group of that regularly. I can’t control what other people do, but I can control what I do, and I’ll act if that agreement is broken.

Legal and contractual limits will be made clear to clients where appropriate. In plain language: if I believe you or someone else is at serious risk of harm, or I’m legally required to disclose information, confidentiality has limits. You’ll know about those limits upfront, not after the fact.

CONDUCT

I have the audacity to speak truthfully, and that means I’ll call out self-sabotage when I see it. But honesty isn’t the same as harshness. I’ll be direct, and I’ll be trauma-informed about how I’m direct. You always have the right to say “not today” to a line of inquiry, and I’ll respect it.

I will show politeness and consideration to clients. I will conduct myself professionally, complying with generally accepted standards of moral behaviour and decency. I will ensure clients take priority over self-interest during sessions.

I will not disparage, nor publicly criticise, other practitioners. In no way will I attempt to mislead another. I will not behave in any manner that may bring myself or my fellow practitioners into disrepute. I am personally responsible for my professional decisions and will give due consideration to the foreseeable consequences of my actions. I will maintain the highest integrity and standards in my work.

I will not offer my services to minors (under the age of 18). I will not unjustly discriminate against clients or fellow practitioners.

SCOPE OF PRACTICE

I’m not a healer. I won’t claim to fix you, because you’re not f*cking broken.

I’m also not a psychologist, counsellor, medical practitioner, financial adviser, accountant or lawyer, and I won’t act like one. I work with the subconscious patterns that show up in your business and your life, through coaching, mentoring and intuitive guidance. That’s powerful work, and it has edges. When something sits outside those edges, I’ll name it and point you to the right professional.

INTUITION AND SPIRITUAL PRACTICE

I’m a certified intuitive guide and I hold a Postgraduate Diploma of Spiritual Direction. My spiritual direction training is non-denominational. I’ll meet you wherever you are with your beliefs, or lack of them, and I’ll never push a belief system on you. Here’s how I bring that into our work ethically.

I believe your intuition lives in your heart. My job is to help you hear your own, not to replace it with mine.

Anything I receive intuitively is offered, never imposed. You’re the authority on your life and your business. If something I share doesn’t land, let it go, no hard feelings.

I won’t make predictions, promise outcomes, or use intuition to diagnose anything, physical, emotional or financial.

I won’t use fear, spiritual language or “the universe says” to pressure you into a decision, a purchase or a renewal. Ever. Gross.

MARKETING AND SALES

No income claims I can’t back up. Results depend on you, your market, your capacity and a hundred bazillion other things, and I’ll never pretend otherwise.

No fake scarcity. No manufactured urgency. No countdown timers that magically reset (seriously, why are we still even doing that?!)

Testimonials are from real clients, used with their permission, and never edited to change their meaning. No AI-generated testimonials, and no AI-generated images pretending to be real people or real results. No AI posters. Enough with them!

On a sales call, “no” is a complete answer. If I don’t think we’re the right fit, I’ll tell you, and where I can, I’ll point you to someone who is.

If I recommend a product or service I earn a commission from, I’ll tell you. Like nose tape and mouth tape. I love that shit.

INCLUSION AND CULTURAL RESPONSIBILITY

I invest in inclusion and diversity mentoring, and I will not indulge white privilege.

I live and work on Gimuy, Walubarra, Yidinji and Yirrganydji Country, and I will always deliver an Acknowledgement of Country. I’m mindful of where spiritual practices come from, I acknowledge my teachers and I won’t borrow from closed or First Nations practices that aren’t mine to share.

COMPETENCE

I’m committed to continuous improvement within the scope of both professional and personal development. I will conduct my professional practice with reasonable skill and learning.

I will not misrepresent my level of training, expertise, experience or qualification. I will not attempt to offer work or advice beyond my level of competence or training.

I participate in regular sessions with my own spiritual mentor and business mentor, in addition to turning up to professional development sessions. I get support so I can keep offering it at a high standard.

RESPONSIBILITY

Where appropriate, I will recommend clients seek expert medical attention or psychological help when they need assistance that falls outside my level of expertise.

I’m not a crisis service. If you’re in immediate danger, call 000 (or the local equivalent of your region). For 24/7 crisis support in Australia, call Lifeline on 13 11 14.

If I believe our work together isn’t serving you, or you need a different kind of support right now, I’ll say so, even if that means pausing or ending our work.

I will maintain Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance of an appropriate level.

RECORDS

Client records will be kept confidential and may only be communicated for professional purposes, with the consent of the client or as required by law. Client records will be stored and disposed of in a confidential manner.

Whilst I record all sessions, clients are welcome to record their own session should they wish. Recordings of sessions will be stored in Fathom AI for the client to download for 60 days. Clients who wish to download recordings must do so within 60 days of receiving them to ensure ongoing access.

I use a recording, transcription and note-taking tools (aka Beryl – Fathom AI) during sessions and workshops.

CLIENTS

I will respect the client’s physical and emotional state, and shall not abuse clients through actions, words or silence, nor take advantage of the relationship. In no way will I participate in sexual activity with a client.

I will consider the client’s comfort zone, and honour client requests as much as possible within personal, professional and ethical limits. Expanding your comfort zone is part of the work. Being pushed past your consent is not.

Payment must be made prior to all sessions taking place. All fee structures, cancellation penalties (if any) and other relevant information or conditions will be clearly communicated before you commit.

When our work together ends, it ends cleanly. No guilt trips, no pressure to renew, and the door stays open should we both want this.

FEEDBACK AND CONCERNS

If something I’ve done doesn’t sit right with you, I want to know. Email me at chenae@chenaecarey.com. I’ll listen, I won’t get defensive, and I’ll respond promptly and honestly. That’s what accountability actually looks like.
